The developer, Scott Gillen paid $50 million for 24 acres of undeveloped land in Malibu three years ago. Following the purchase, he announced his plans to develop the property into five high-end homes known as “The Case.”

The coastal mansions are slowly coming to market with Case No. 2 for sale with a hefty price tag of $100 million. Case No. 2 is the second home to be listed of “The Case” community as Case No. 5 is on the market as well for the same $100 million asking price. The high price tags puts them in rare territory with only six other homes on the market currently asking more than $100 million in Los Angeles County.

Case No. 2 is a modern, minimalist mansion with 10,727 square feet of living spaces, five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The property sits on approximately three acres with views of the coastline and water. The Midcentury style is evident in the living spaces with clean lines, hardwood floors and wall of glass overlooking the Pacific. The master bath has a custom walnut soaking tub with access to the outdoor spa. The outdoor entrance has two welcoming reflecting pools in the courtyard, and the backyard has a massive 132 foot infinity pool with a patio and fire pit.

The house is currently unfinished with construction expected to be completed by early 2021. Gilles smartly planned to have all five homes completed at the same time, so new residents wouldn’t have to hear construction noise from the other properties. Gillen is listing “The Case” homes through Unvarnished, the new real estate brokerage firm he formed from his development and design company, UnvarnishedCo by partnering with the real estate technology firm, Side.
