Jeff Bezos expands his real estate portfolio even further with his recent purchase of the $79 Million property in Indian Creek Village.
The 2-acre waterfront estate at 12 Indian Creek Island Road follows his recent purchase of the neighboring property last summer for $68 million. The residence is vast, spanning 19,000 square feet.
Dina Goldentayer and Danilo Traveres of Douglas Elliman represented both buyer and seller in the transaction, according to the recent property records. The agents declined to comment.
Bezos has a net worth of over $170 Billion and bought both of his new properties for $147 Million. With this, Bezos has acquired 4.6 acres of continuous waterfront property.
Located north of Miami Beach, Indian Creek is a gated and guarded island community with private streets. This restricts access to the public and only allows residents and invited guests to enter. Along with Jeff Bezos other notable figures live there as well, including Billionaire Carl Icahn, hedge funder Eddie Lampert, Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and singer-songwriter Julio Iglesias.
In May, Dina Goldentayer listed the estate for $85 Million. The home was built in 2000 and includes a home theater, wine cellar, pool, and cabana, along with 200 feet of waterfront along the bay. The previous owner, Leo Kryss, co-founded the Brazilian electronics and toy company Tectoy and purchased the property for $28 million in 2014.
As a Miami Palmetto Senior High School grad of 1982, Bezos has roots in South Florida. Bezos and his Fiancée, former news anchor and pilot Lauren Sánchez, have been searching for a new mansion in the Miami area, as previously reported.
Jeff Bezos is not the only member of the Bezos family purchasing notable property recently. Last year, his parents, Mike and Jackie Bezos, made headlines after buying two waterfront homes in Coral Gables for $78 Million.
Although Bezos is notably the wealthiest individual purchasing estates in the area, he is not the only one currently investing in nearby properties. Billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin has recently procured nearly 6.5 acres of waterfront property on Miami Beach’s Star Island.
Along with Bezos and Griffin, the former chairman and CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, spent $63 million on two homes in Miami Beach last month. Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, have spent over $100 million acquiring property over the past three years, according to property records.
